I’m a 21 year old Irish canoe slalom athlete from Belfast. I have been paddling for around 8 years and been competing in slalom racing for 6 years.
I started out in white-water boats, this took me all over the world, doing trips in Montenegro,
Norway and India.
As I started to move towards slalom, I found myself wanting to spend more and more time training, and eventually moved to Nottingham in 2016. Since then I have been training alongside my Coaching and Sport Science Degree, and love spending every day trying to get faster!
Slalom has taken me to countless new places. My first international race was the 2015 Junior World Championships, in Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil. Since then I have raced all over Europe as part of the Irish Senior and U23 teams. Most recently racing the Senior World Championships, which were held at the 2016 Olympic venue, in Rio De Janeiro.
In the long term I am hoping to race at the Olympic Games, but there are a few hurdles to climb over before then! These include Irish team selection, and the first round of Olympic qualifiers at the world champs in Spain this September. In the meantime I’ll focus on going quicker day by day!
